Home Owner Advice

Preparing for a real estate photography shoot can be stressful, but it doesn't have to be!  Let's work together to create stunning photographs that will attract potential buyers and help you sell you home quickly.

To help you get ready, we've put together a list of example activities to do before the photography appointment for your property to look its best.

  • Whole house:

    • Remove clutter throughout

    • Remove or store trash cans; if present ensure empty and clean

    • Remove or store small throw rugs, doormats, etc.

    • Straighten furniture

    • Hide electrical cords

    • Clean/dust all surfaces

    • Remove or store personal items from surfaces

      • photo frames

      • tchotchkes/knickknacks

      • clocks

      • paperwork

      • Dust, wash floors

      • Clean mirrors

      • Arrange decorative pillows

      • Turn off televisions, computer screens, and projectors

      • Turn on all lights including lamps

      • Turn off ceiling fans (5 minutes prior to appointment is helpful)

      • Open all curtains, drapes, window coverings

      • Vacuum carpet(s) in a pattern you would like to show in photographs

  • Kitchen

    • Remove refrigerator magnets, photographs, calendars, etc.

    • Clear sink of dishes

    • Remove or store as much as you can from counters, creating spaciousness

  • Bedroom(s)

    • Put all clothing away in closets or drawers

    • Make beds

    • Clean under bed(s)

  • Bathroom(s) - think spa atmosphere

    • Remove or store toiletries, tissue boxes, appliances from counters, tubs and showers

    • Clean mirrors, sink, tubs and showers

    • Remove or store trash cans, plungers, toilet brushes, cleaning supplies, etc

    • Toilet seat in down position

    • Remove or store bath mats

    • Fold any towels present in a manner pleasing to the eye

  • Pets

    • Offsite, in kennel or in garage

    • Bowls, food, mats removed or stored

  • Exterior

    • Landscaping and lawn maintained

    • Trim shrubs

    • Gardens weeded and/or mulched, etc.

    • Lawn cleared of leaves and debris

    • Clean and sweep outdoor surfaces

    • Remove or store toys, trash cans, recycle bins, water hoses, yard signs, etc.

    • Remove or store lawn equipment

    • Arrange any outdoor furniture

    • Open patio umbrella(s)

    • Park your car(s) down the street

  • Pool

    • Clean

    • Remove or store toys

    • Arrange furniture as you would like it to be in photographs & videos
